Winter gear was certainly not needed today as the Hour Ramblers set off on their Monday outing. Spring has definitely arrived!
Setting off from the new Brent Rd/Lazo Rd parking lot, our route took us over the Lazo Marsh trail to Curtis Rd and then along Curtis to divert to the shoreline at the base of Cardem Rd. Here, we briefly enjoyed the sight of the Snowbird planes practicing over the ocean before we returned to Lazo Rd. We made a quick side trip over to the viewing platform in the Lazo Nature Sanctuary before returning to the cars, noting mostly Red-winged Blackbirds flitting about the marsh. At the edge of the Sanctuary, we were thrilled to see a bushtit nest hanging from the tree branch and a few were lucky enough to see a bushtit pair bringing bits of moss to the nest.
