Birding Outing Feb 27

PROBUS BIRDING REPORT FEB 28, 2026

 

Six birders with the Probus Birding Group enjoyed a very pleasant outing at the Air Park on Friday, Feb
27/26. The weather was good, the sun was shining and we saw a respectable number of bird species.
The tide didn’t go out far enough to expose shoreline mud flats in the lagoon so there were no shorebirds
(except for a couple of Killdeer), visiting the Air Park while we were there. Aside from the noisy Canada
Geese, we did get to enjoy the chipping and calls of quite a number of Red-winged and Brewers
Blackbirds giving the impression that spring is not far away. Early blooming flowers and budding trees and
shrubs also created a spring-like welcome.

One of the highlights was a good view of 4 Snow Geese (of course they were on the opposite side of the
lagoon!) with the spotting scope and 2 Killdeer directly behind them (2 species in one).

Digiscoping is holding a camera or smart phone close to the eye piece of a spotting telescope and taking a
picture.
